About the Alumni Association
Freemasonry
Ages 18 or 21+
When you become a Freemason, you begin your journey toward being a better man. You will build rich, meaningful relationships with your Brothers, commit to the service of those around you, and strive for a deeper, more honest connection with yourself and others. It’s a journey of self-discovery and enlightenment.
Take your first step
A Freemason is a man who has taken an obligation to uphold our timeless principles of Brotherly love, relief, and truth. Beyond these basics, being a Freemason means so much more. A Freemason is a man who is committed to bettering himself and his community, having taken a solemn vow to help and mentor his Masonic Brothers do the same. A Freemason is a man eager to be part of something bigger than himself, with a reverence for history, compassion in his heart, and a desire to create a better future.
There are three degrees in Freemasonry: Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft, and Master Mason. Most men advance to the level of Master Mason, some over the course of months; others may accomplish this goal over years. But once a man has taken his first obligation as an Entered Apprentice, he is, once and forever, a Freemason.
Become an advisor
Age varies
To be eligible to serve as a DeMolay advisor you have to be over 21 years of age. Advisors apply to the Executive Officer to serve. Following a background check and a training session qualified adults may become an advisor. While many of our advisors are Masons you do not need to be a Mason or a relative of a Mason to serve. themselves.Â
What are the Advisors responsible for?
Ultimately the DeMolay Advisors are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the operation of a Chapter and ensuring that they operate within the statutes set forth by DeMolay International (the International governing body). The Advisors help the members plan and carry out programs and activities of a Chapter. They also supervise those activities onsite while they are happening. They are responsible for disciplinary matters that may come before the Chapter. Often times they are the Chapter administrators and record-keepers for paperwork that is required to be maintained. These individuals are respected members of the community who donate their time and money to assist the growth of these young men. To summarize, a DeMolay Advisor is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of the DeMolay Chapter and its members.
