Parent, Advisor, MO

As a parent, I appreciate the values that DeMolay teaches.  Patriotism, citizenship, love of family, and respect for womanhood are among the same values we teach at home.  I also appreciate how DeMolay is supportive of family involvement.  Because of this, I have been present and involved in the many milestones my son has reached throughout his journey as a DeMolay and it has been a joy to witness.  I have seen him grow from the wide-eyed new kid (who was inspired by youth leaders setting the example) to the young man who leads others with compassion, decisiveness, and vision.  He has become the example that the wide-eyed new kids want to emulate.

As an Advisor, I have been blessed to watch and help foster this transformation in many members.  I have seen countless young men join DeMolay shy, and uncertain of themselves.  In time, they grow in confidence and skills, surrounded by supportive friends and encouraging adults.  Soon they are leaders in their chapters, their schools, and their communities.

I have watched DeMolay change lives for young men who were previously headed in the wrong direction.  The support, brotherhood, and caring found at their DeMolay chapter gave them the courage and comfort to choose a better path, with their DeMolay brothers pursuing the same.  I see men returning from college in the summers, or on leave from the military, taking time to return to their DeMolay chapters and participate with the ones following behind, because it means that much to them.  It becomes a part of who they are, and who they want to be.  DeMolay teaches leadership, but it also teaches how to be the best version of yourself so that you may serve others.  My hope would be that every young man be given the opportunity to learn and grow as a DeMolay, because it would surely make for better future leaders and a better world for us all.
